Iván Jaripio (Embera) | Panamá | 2017 | 4 min
No Dialogue | Short Experimental
A different and striking perspective that contrasts indigenous traditions with contemporary society in Panama. Facing a territorial and cultural threat that is modernization, a native resistance becomes urgent in order to defend traditions.
Iván is of the Embera culture of Panama. From 2013 to the present he has been taking film workshops, motivated by native people’s rights, so that their voices can be heard. He is part of Dji Ta Wagadi, a cultural collective formed by the new Embera generations.
