EFM Doc + Fiction Toolbox Call for Applications

Are you an emerging to mid-level Indigenous Producer in Canada?

imagineNATIVE is thrilled to support an Indigenous Producer with a feature film project in development to participate as a Producer Fellow in the Doc + Fiction Toolbox led by the Diversity and Inclusion team at the European Film Market in February 2024.

The Doc + Fiction Fellows Toolbox is a professional development opportunity for emerging to mid-level Producers to participate in online workshops and preparation sessions and to attend the EFM in Berlin. The selected participant will have their project promoted through the Native Indigenous Cinema Stand at the EFM while participating in curated programs to enhance their time at the market, such as tailor-made workshops and access to networking and matchmaking events.

The Toolbox Program includes:

  1.  Preparatory phase (online): meetings between consultants and participants with feedback on projects and strategic planning for networking at the EFM, as well as organizational and logistical advice on the EFM.
  2. Weeks Before the EFM (online): an immersive 2-week program of focused workshops, with experienced tutors on relevant topics like Pitching tools, funding and incubators, grant writing, impact marketing, sales and distribution, press and PR, co-productions ex…
  3.  During the EFM (in person): participation in matchmaking, networking, and community-building events in Berlin.

 

Travel, accommodation, and the cost of one (1) market badge will be covered by imagineNATIVE.

Applicants must be able to commit to pre-market email and/or Zoom communication with Native Indigenous Cinema Stand Partners, imagineNATIVE, EFM Diversity and Inclusion team, etc. Preparation for the Doc + Fiction Toolbox and EFM will begin upon confirmation of participation, and the selected participant must be available to attend the EFM in Berlin from February 14 to 22, 2024 (including two days of travel).

Eligibility:

  • Open to First Nations, Métis, or Inuit applicants in Canada. 
  • Must have a Feature Length Documentary or Fiction in development

  • A Pitch Deck or support documents that depict the Feature Films tone, story, and genre.
  • The Feature Film’s budget, including any funding already secured.
  • A teaser reel, if available.
