Response to Indigenous Screen Office Statement

imagineNATIVE fully supports the Indigenous Screen Office (ISO) and their recent statements released that outline their efforts to secure a permanent federal funding allocation for their operations. The ISO has made great strides in a short period of time to support Indigenous creatives working in the film and media sectors, and we genuinely believe their existence is imperative towards Indigenous narrative sovereignty and authentic representation on our screens.

We very much view the ISO’s work in advocacy towards Indigenous narrative sovereignty and their many initiatives to be in line with our own mission and mandate in providing opportunities for Indigenous artists. imagineNATIVE as an organization has received ISO funding, and we are extremely grateful for their existence and considerable support as a leader within the industry.
