Blackhorse Lowe

Blackhorse Lowe is a filmmaker from the Navajo Nation whose films focus on Native stories. He has directed television episodes of Reservation Dogs, Joe Pickett, Big Sky, Blindspotting, and Outer Range. His feature film Fukry won Best Film at the 2020 Montreal First Peoples Festival. Lowe’s directorial debut, 5th World, premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, and he received awards for his short, Shimásání, which screened at Tribeca and Sundance.
A 2024 United States Artists Fellowship recipient, Lowe resides in New Mexico, working on independent and collaborative Indigenous film projects. He is developing the feature Lords of the Earth, which made the 2020 Blacklist, and is writing Fort Apache with Ronald D. Moore. His short film Metal Belt is currently on the festival circuit.
