Sinakson Trevor Solway is a Blackfoot filmmaker from Siksika Nation. His breakthrough film Indian Giver screened internationally and can now be found on Amazon Prime Video. In 2021, Trevor directed the award-winning POV documentary Kaatohkitopii: The Horse He Never Rode (CBC Gem) which screened at the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival and at the DOXA Documentary Film Festival. He directed a 2022 episode of the documentary series Stuff the British Stole for CBC/ABC and has been an episodic director for seasons 2 and 3 of Amplify for APTN. He is also the writer/director/showrunner of Tales From The Rez, a horror comedy anthology series available on APTN Lumi. Tales From the Rez won the Audience Choice Award at the Calgary International Film Festival and was nominated for nine Rosie Awards, winning Best Screenwriter Scripted Under 30 Minutes and Best Production Reflecting Cultural Diversity.
In 2025, his most recent feature documentary Siksikakowan: The Blackfoot Man (produced by The National Film Board of Canada) had its world premiere at Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival and screened at the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival, winning the Audience Choice Award. Trevor also won the Jean-Marc Vallée DGC Discovery Award and an Alberta Media Production Industries Association Rosie Award for Best Cinematographer.
Trevor was the 2020 recipient of the Mount Royal University Horizon Award for early career success and was named Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2021. He is the founder and leader of The Napi Collective, a grassroots filmmaking society based out of Siksika Nation. He attended the Indigenous Digital Filmmaking program at Capilano University in 2012 and later graduated from Mount Royal University with his Bachelor of Communication in 2017.
