
Miguel Hilari

Miguel Hilari is a documentary filmmaker who lives and works in La Paz, Bolivia. He studied filmmaking in La Paz, Santiago de Chile and Barcelona. His films, which portray migrations, urbanization processes and memory, have been screened and awarded internationally.
Miguel’s 2023 film Cerro Saturno, premiered at Visions du Réel in Switzerland and won awards at Black Canvas Contemporary Film Festival in Mexico and Lima Alterna International Film Festival in Peru. His 2019 film Compañía, also premiered at Visions du Réel where it was awarded as the best medium-length film. Compañía was also shown at the Santiago International Documentary Film Festival (FIDOCS) in Chile, Transcinema Festival Internacional de Cine in Peru, and the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival.
His 2019 work Bocamina (Pithole), premiered in Oberhausen, Germany, while Miguel’s 2014 film El corral y el viento (The Corral and the Wind) premiered at Cinéma du Réel in France and won awards at FIDOCS in Chile, at Transcinema Festival Internacional de Cine in Peru, and at Márgenes in Spain.
