The CN Tower lights up for imagineNATIVE
Canada’s tallest structure to light up in honour of 25th anniversary of festival
For Immediate Release
May 20, 2025, Tkaronto/Toronto – In honour of the 25th anniversary of the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival, Canada’s tallest structure, the CN Tower, will light up Red, Navy and Teal on June 3, 2025 for opening day. The announcement comes on the day individual tickets for the festival go on sale. The festival will run in Toronto from June 3-8, 2025 and online from June 9-15, 2025.

In addition to the lighting, imagineNATIVE is proud to announce the Artist’s Spotlight Directory and the 25th Anniversary Timeline in celebration of this year’s milestone anniversary.
Made possible by the Canada Council for the Arts, the imagineNATIVE Artist Spotlight Directory was conceived out of the desire to create a more accessible, engaging, and meaningful way to showcase imagineNATIVE’s archives, as well as highlight Indigenous filmmakers, artists and industry professionals who have been a part of imagineNATIVE’s history and inspire emerging creatives. The first phase of the directory launches today and spotlights 25 artists who have been integral to the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival, the imagineNATIVE Institute, and other initiatives over the past 25 years, and who have helped shape the organization into what it is today. To learn more, visit the Artist Spotlight Directory at imagineNATIVE.org/artist-spotlight-directory.
To honour the history of the past 25 years of championing Indigenous storytelling on the screen, imagineNATIVE has released a 25th Anniversary Timeline. The timeline begins in 1998 with the founding of The Centre for Aboriginal Media by Cynthia Lickers-Sage and Vtape and travels all the way through to the Silver Jubilee edition happening this June. The full timeline highlighting all 25 years is available now at imagineNATIVE.org/festival/25th-anniversary.
Full programming and ticket information are now available at imagineNATIVE.org.
